Volunteers – We Appreciate Them
The HMRRC is a non-profit organization that needs volunteers for a broad range of activities from those who help with races to those who administer. In our events we need volunteers to help before a race, to keep runners safe on a busy intersection some miles from the race start, to work at the front desk registering people, and to pack up the race materials and clean up. We also need volunteers to administrate the races and our organization. These roles are essential and without them, running in the Capital Region would suffer.
To reward those who do volunteer, the HMRRC usually gives volunteers t-shirts or other giveaways. In special instances such as the Winter Series, those who volunteer for all five races are given a special award. The Pace Setter intends to reward them further.
NEW Feature
The results along with a list of the volunteers will be included at the end of articles on each race. The race results are easy to get but many may wonder how the volunteer list is obtained.
This is How
Presently people are encouraged to register to volunteer through Wild Apricot. On the Pace Setter website, under Upcoming Events, choose the race you want to sign up for and when this screen appears, click on Details.
After that, another screen will pop up and here you click on Volunteer.
You will then get a sign-up screen for volunteering. The day of the race, there will be a volunteer sign up sheet made from those who registered to sign at the front desk. You must sign the volunteer sheet to get credit. Also, please make sure that your signature is legible!
Day of Race Sign Up
If you did not sign up on the Wild Apricot form, but are volunteering the day of the race, add your name to the bottom of the volunteer sign up sheet and you will be included.
However, sometimes names may be omitted online in the article. If this happens, do the following:

Add your name and the race, and then send the message. Your name will be included in the next Pace Setter for that race.
If this procedure seems complicated, after you do it a couple of times, it will be super easy.
And just remember…
We value your help and are extremely grateful because as we said earlier, without your help, there would be NO races!
