The Distinguished Service Award (DSA) is given by the Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC) annually to honor club members who have served the HMRRC with distinction over an extended period of time, typically several years or longer. The 2022 nominees are listed below.
The election of the 2022 DSA recipient(s) will take place at the May 11, 2022, monthly club meeting, which begins at 7:00pm. At that meeting, each finalist’s qualifications will be presented by the nominator or the nominator’s designee. All club members in attendance can vote. The link to the virtual meeting will be available in advance on the club’s website. Please RSVP to Sally Drake, at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive the virtual meeting link.
Marey Bailey (nominator: Lindsey Klinge)
Marey has been a HMRRC volunteer for more than a decade. She regularly works race registration, volunteer check-in, and results, complex tasks that are integral to club races. She is often the first volunteer runners meet at club events, and she helps people join the club. She also encourages and supports new race directors. This year she helped enforce required mask-wearing at the SUNY campus during the winter races.
Brian and Jessica Northan (nominators: John Parisella and Karen Bertasso)
Jessica and Brian Northan have served the HMRRC as race directors for the Stockade-athon 15k and the Running of the Green for several years. During the pandemic, Brian held the Stockade-athon safely in 2021. Brian has also coordinated the Club’s Grand Prix scoring. Jessica has served as an elected member of the HMRRC Board of Directors, as a Member-at-Large, Vice-President and current President, as well as a member of the Shrader Scholarship committee.
