The HMRRC is a large organization with thousands of members so there is much going on that we would like to highlight.
We are happy to announce three weddings that occurred this month and sadly the death of a longterm member. First to the happy events of marriage within our club.
The Udvadias
Cara Sherman and Ryan Udvadia, both elite runners, are now happily united. The Firecracker 4 Miler was their first event run together as Mr. and Mrs. Udvadia. We look forward to seeing them race many more such events as they run down the path of life as a married couple.
The Faloticos
Mary Claire Walker is well known for her skills as an ultra runner and her invaluable help on The Pace Setter. Her husband John Daniel was inevitably drawn into running by Mary Claire and they both recently ran their first race, the Firecracker 4, as Mr. and Mrs. We wish them many more races together over the coming years.
The Wilkins
Mark Mindel was proud to announce the marriage of his daughter Katie to Tom Wilkins. Mark’s son, Scott, an accomplished runner and winner of many HMRRC races, officiated at his sister’s wedding on Nantucket Island. Mark said of the wedding that “Scott did a terrific job officiating and Tom Wilkins and Kate Mindel's vows made you cry.”
Longtime HMRRC member Norton (Ned) B. Norton passed away on July 2 at age 87.
A Korean War veteran, he enlisted and served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps (Semper fi), and received an honorable discharge for his service in 1961. An avid runner, Ned belonged to The Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC). He ran in many local races as well as the New York City Marathon. He especially enjoyed running in the Troy Turkey Trot and the AJCC Bagel Run. His son Edward carries on his tradition and runs many HMRRC races with his recent being the Firecracker 4 Miler.
