MHR Marathon and the Hannaford Half

by Christine Bishop

On October 10, Sunday, after a year-long pandemic break, one of the premier events of the HMRRC will occur: the Mohawk Hudson River Marathon and the Hannaford Half.  We invite you to participate or watch the runners as they cross the finish line at the Corning preserve.  There are also stops along the route where you can view runners’ progress. (Learn about the courses)

Runner’s World magazine has said that the MHR Marathon is a hidden jewel that is “simple, understated and stunning… all the amenities of a major marathon with none of the hassles." During the Autumn, it is glorious to run along fall leaf understory.  Also, it is a Boston Marathon qualifier event.

New this year will be day of race registration if the number cap has not been reached.  To find out if it has, click here and the registration form will note if you can still sign up.  Also offered this year is registration insurance that will ensure a total refund if you cannot make the race.

Another new feature is the fantastic merchandise for sale online (click here) or at the race itself in the Corning Preserve booth area. You can see it for yourself below ...

Drinking cup with coaster and celebratory magnet

This year special thanks go to sponsors whose donations help to make the race possible.

If you ran the Druthers Helderberg to Hudson Half Marathon on Sat, April 17 and finish either our Mohawk Hudson River Marathon or Hannaford Half Marathon on October 10, you will receive a special commemorative Race The Rivers medal. If you finish the marathon, in addition to the medal, you will receive an additional memento. Do note that you need to sign-up for this as part of your registration for our event. Visit racetherivers.com for more information.

Thanks also go to Maureen Cox for her years of being the race director along with her exceptional crew of volunteers. Click here if you would like to join the gang and volunteer.
