Hall of Fame – Distinguished Service Award Recipients -- Sep 26th

by Courtney Breiner

The Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club is elated to have the opportunity to honor both our 2020 and 2021 Distinguished Service Award Winners and Hall of Fame Inductees. The awards will officially be presented at our annual Anniversary Run on September 26!

Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award is awarded to an individual whose dedication and service to the club is unparalleled. Nominees for the award are presented to the club via newsletter, and any club member may join the monthly board meeting to vote on the recipient of the award.

Mark.Warner.jpgIn 2020, we had the privilege of awarding this honor to Mark Warner. Mark has been a constant at HMRRC events over more than three decades, from Race Director of the Distinguished Service Race, to Vice President of the Board to water stop volunteer at a variety of races. You may know him best, however, for his role as the Race Director of the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge. We heard a rumor that in addition to all he does in administration and volunteering, Mark still gets his runs in, and looks forward to seeing you on the course in whatever capacity he may be working in!

Chris.Bishop.jpgIn 2021, Christine Bishop was a clear nominee for the Distinguished Service Award as she retired from her 8-year-long tenure as Pace Setter Editor. We are honored to award her this honor, as she not only made the Pace Setter the monthly newsletter we all know, love, and look forward to, but is often found at races taking Instagram-worthy photographs and cheering everyone on.

We are lucky to have had so many wonderful nominees for the Distinguished Service Award over the past two years and look forward to continuing to celebrate the individuals who have made such a significant impact on who we are!

Hall of Fame Inductees

The Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club Hall of Fame honors an individual who has earned extraordinary distinction as a member of HMRRC, such as historical significance to the club, performance as a runner, service to the club, and volunteerism. These individuals are vital to the progress of the club.

2020

MarciaAdamsFINAL.jpgWe are so pleased to announce Marcia Adams as the 2020 Hall of Fame Inductee. Known for not being a runner, Marcia has dedicated eighteen years of service to the club. Therefore, in addition to being named a Distinguished Service Award winner in 2010, it was clear that Marcia deserved a Hall of Fame induction. She has served as club secretary, membership chair, HMRRC administrator, and perhaps in her most stunning role to date – volunteer coordinator for 12 years! A list of all of her contributions can be found in a previous Pace Setter article, here: https://www.hmrrc.com/members/pacesetter/2021/january/marcia-adams-joins-hall-fame

MikeKelly.JPGThe 2021 Hall of Fame Inductee is Mike Kelly. Mike was HMRRC President in 2008-2009 and directed the Indian Ladder Trail Races from 2004 to 2016. Mike also was a regular volunteer at many HMRRC events races and assisted with the FRW race as a coordinator for many years. Mike has a 2:53 marathon and a 1:23 half both run at age 39.  If you have the time why not show up on September 26th and celebrating 50 (five-oh!) years of HMRRC. The Anniversary Run is a 2.95 mile or 5.90 mile run on September 26. Join us for a run, a celebration, and even some cake!
