Runners Gobble Up Turkey Raffle Race

by Randy Goldberg

The Turkey Raffle one-hour run is on Sunday, November 19th at 10 a.m. in Guilderland’s Tawasentha Park off Route 146. Each 1-mile loop completed receives a raffle ticket. At the end of the race, runners put their name on their tickets, and drop them in the raffle basket, and hope to hear their name called.

The entry fee is $2 for those 18 and under, $3 for HMRRC members and Guilderland residents, and $5 to all others. In lieu of a cash entry, participants can bring a baked good, suitable for raffling. Registration is day of event only and begins at 8:30am at the large pavilion with the race starting on the lower field. There will also be 10 frozen turkeys on hand as part of the raffle. Perhaps you will win one to bring home.

Bountiful Bread will serve their hot soup, hot beverages, and homemade breads as part of the post-race refreshments. Runners will be warmed by the crackling fire pit.

Volunteers are needed for registration, water stop, and ticket distribution. If available, please contact Race Directors Kathleen and Randy Goldberg at nutmegrag@gmail.com.

The Food Pantries will be on hand to collect canned goods and non-perishable food items. Please remember the hungry at this time of year.
