Lavigne and Stookey Win 2017 Bill Robinson Masters 10K Race

The day before the race, Bill Robinson sent an email informing us that with deep regrets he would be unable to make it to the race because his health aide would have to be at his home by 7 am and that was not possible. He sent his best wishes to all the runners and his sincere apologies to everyone for his absence.

The out and back course is part of the Grand Prix Series for HMRRC. The female winner was Michelle Lavigne who completed this challenging course in 42:57. The male winner was Jake Stookey in a time of 34:58. Perhaps he should be known as Shoeless Jake Stookey because he ran the 6.2 mile course without shoes.

A special thanks to Tom and Marcia Adams for the countless hours they devoted to this race. Marcia took care of all the entries both online and mail-in. Distributed gloves to each runner and took care of all the pre-race and day of race participants. In addition, she set up various signs to direct runners where to go.

ALL TOM ADAMS DID WAS:

Drove the van to and from the race.

Set up the water stop (table, water and cups).

Put runner on the road signs out.

Installed the start/finish line.

After the race, went out picked up the water table, water and cups,

runner on the road signs, placed them in the van.

On top of all this he ran the race and finished first in his age group by two minutes.

When his name was called at the award ceremony he was not present as he was out taking down the finish line and loading it into the van.

Such a tremendous effort by one single person, it boggles the mind.

We all thank the Guilderland Police Department and all the people at Guilderland High School for their continued tremendous support of this event.

I hope to see you all next year.
