HMRRC HALL OF FAME
HMRRC’s Hall of Fame Committee is looking for candidates for the 2016 HMRRC Hall of Fame
The Hudson Mohawk Road Runner's club is seeking nominations for potential induction into its Hall of Fame. Each year the HMRRC honors members of the HMRRC or the regional running community who have made extraordinary contributions to the mission of the HMRRC and/or who have demonstrated noteworthy running performances in HMRRC races or at the local, regional, national or international levels of competition.
Those previously nominated and eventually selected to the HMRRC Hall of Fame have also served as elected officers of the HMRRC, have served as leaders within the regional running community as a Race Director, have volunteered at multiple HMRRC events over an extended period of years, or may have served the HMRRC or larger running community as a coach, mentor or educator of local runners.
Recent Hall of Fame inductees have included Tom Adams who, along with his wife Marcia, has not only made himself indispensable to the HMRRC through his selfless giving of his time and talents, but has also been a standout competitor. Tom and Marcia continue to spend some time each week maintaining and organizing HMRRC equipment and supplies at the HMRRC offices in Colonie.
Another runner and longtime HMRRC volunteer and officer who was last year selected by the Hall of Fame balloting was Jon Rocco. At 49 years of age, in addition to continuing his service to the HMRRC as Race Committee Chairperson, Jon continues to cement his place in Utica Boilermaker lore. Jon recently completed his 30th Utica Boilermaker 15K this past July 10th; again, in under 60 minutes! Just to be clear, Jon has recorded 25 sub-60 minute performances out of his 30 appearances in the Utica Boilermaker.
With both of these fine gentlemen one must ask them about what they do for the HMRRC or how they did in a race. They do not seek recognition, it comes to them.
There are many potential Hall of Fame nominees within the HMRRC. If you have worked with or know someone who meets the criteria for consideration by the Hall of Fame committee, please send their name and appropriately detailed supporting information to me.
